Attending the seminar were delegations and delegates of more than 100 political parties and organizations from over 40 countries including the DPRK, China, Cuba, Vietnam, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Brazil and El Salvador and members of the leadership of the Workers' Party of Mexico and its party members.

A congratulatory message sent by the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea to the seminar was read out there. It was followed by congratulatory speeches made by the coordinator of the Broad Progressive Front of Mexico, the general secretary of the Democratic Revolutionary Party of Mexico and the chairman of the Party for Unity of Mexico.

Alberto Anaya Gutierrez, coordinator of the National Coordinating Committee of the Workers' Party of Mexico, in an opening address said that the DPRK has become a military power with powerful nuclear deterrent thanks to the Songun politics.

Delegates of political parties and organizations of different countries in their speeches noted with high appreciation that the WPK and the people of the DPRK have firmly defended the dignity, sovereignty and the socialist cause under the uplifted banner of Songun to cope with the U.S. offensive to stifle the DPRK, expressing support and solidarity with the Korean people in their struggle to build a great prosperous and powerful nation and reunify the country.

The seminar adopted a joint statement in support of the WPK and the Korean people in their struggle to build a thriving socialist nation and reunify the country. The joint statement warmly congratulated the DPRK on having successfully launched the satellite Kwangmyongsong-2 and successfully carried out the second nuclear test with its own efforts and by its own technology to emerge a proud country that launched satellites and had access to nuclear weapons.

The statement supported the statement of the DPRK Foreign Ministry which proposed to the parties to the Armistice Agreement an early start of the talks to replace the AA with a peace treaty this year marking six decades since the outbreak of the Korean war.

The coordinator of the National Coordinating Committee of the Workers' Party of Mexico presented a letter on the successful holding of the seminar to General Secretary Kim Jong Il on behalf of the participants in the seminar.

The letter said that Kim Jong Il not only turned the DPRK into a political, ideological and military power but resolutely smashed the imperialists' moves to stifle the DPRK and honorably defended Korean-style socialism by pursuing the invincible Songun politics. This instilled the faith and optimism about the victory into the progressive political parties aspiring after socialism, the letter added.

It highly praised Kim Jong Il for having made immortal contributions to the accomplishment of global independence and the socialist cause.
