Angolan President Meets DPRK ambassador
Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- The friendly and cooperative relations between Angola and the DPRK are long-standing special relations and their basis was provided in the period of the Angolan people's struggle for national independence.

Angolan President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos said this when receiving credentials from the DPRK ambassador to his country on Mar. 11.

The president said that the support and encouragement given by the DPRK to Angola made a great contribution to the struggle of the Angolan people for the independence and development of the country.

The bilateral relations have developed favorably, he said, extending congratulations to the Korean people on their successes made in building a great prosperous and powerful nation under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.

He said that he is rejoiced over the fact that the DPRK has made new progress in all fields including industry and agriculture, overcoming consecutive natural disasters and difficulties.

Angola fully supports the DPRK's efforts for the normalization of the DPRK-U.S. relations and the peaceful reunification of the country, regarding its proposal to terminate the hostile relations and conclude a peace treaty between the DPRK and the U.S. as an important one, he declared.
