US Urged to Lift Sanctions against DPRK in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) -- The Buddhist Peace Solidarity of south Korea on March 11 sent a statement titled "We Demand the U.S. Immediately Lift Economic Sanctions against the North" to all media organizations of south Korea.

The statement termed the U.S. persistent economic sanctions against the DPRK a human rights abuse and an anti-peace atrocity.

All peace-loving people of the world urge the U.S. to immediately lift economic sanctions, stop anti-DPRK war exercises and opt for peace in Asia, the statement said.

Saying that no matter what economic embargo the U.S. may impose on the DPRK, Washington can never block its economic development, the statement held that it is because the DPRK has firmly preserved an independent and self-supporting national economy and socialist economy.

Referring to the madcap large-scale joint military exercises being staged in south Korea against the DPRK, the statement said that this indicates that the U.S. makes no scruple of committing whatever act of aggression to stifle the DPRK.

The statement urged the U.S. to stop hamstringing all efforts exerted by the DPRK for economic development and immediately retract "Resolution 1874" of the UN Security Council.

It strongly demanded on behalf of the Buddhists desirous of peace and reunification that the U.S. immediately stop its ceaseless acts of aggression and man-killings against countries hostile to it and lift economic sanctions against the DPRK.
