Protection Enforced in DPRK for Working Women
Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- The women of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea lead an independent and creative life with equal socio-political rights with men.

It can be found in the legal measures taken by the state for the women's health and labor protection.

According to the labor law of the Republic, it is not permitted to assign arduous and harmful labor affected by severe vibration, coldness, traction, heavy loading and diving to women and put pregnant women or nursing mothers on night work.

The state keeps labor protection arrangements, sanitary facilities, consultation offices, nurseries, kindergartens and children's wards available at working places of women to protect and improve their and their children's health and encourage women to take an active part in social labor.

Women workers with three children or more under thirteen work less than other workers in time but get the same payment.

In addition to the regular and extra vacations, working women are entitled to maternity leave.

The special labor protection is a token of the state's deep concern for the working women.

The Korean women enjoy not only the legal measures but preferential treatment and respect in society.
