Int'l Women's Day Editorially Observed
Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- Leading papers Monday editorially observe the centenary of the March 8 International Women's Day.

The International Women's Day is the day of the working women struggling for peace, democracy, national independence and the cause of socialism, opposed to imperialism, and a militant holiday to boost the international solidarity among the women the world over in their actions for their equality and rights and demonstrate their might.

Rodong Sinmun says: The noble ideal of the March 8 International Women's Day was successfully realized and a shining success made in the settlement of the women's problem and the development of the women's movement under the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea and President
Kim Il Sung.

It goes on:

The President regarded the women as a powerful force pushing one of the two wheels of the revolutionary chariot at the very day he embarked on the road of the revolution in his early years, thus making a glorious history of the Juche-oriented women's movement.

Right after the liberation of the country, he founded the Democratic Women's Union of Korea and promulgated the law on sex equality. This marked a historic milestone in the development of the women's movement in the country.

The women's movement the President started and led to victory has greeted a new heyday in its development under the outstanding and tested leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

The women in the DPRK exercised their legitimate sovereign rights, being responsible for the state and the society even when socialism collapsed in different countries and the international women's movement suffered setbacks, demonstrating high dignity and honor. This would be unthinkable without the experienced and tested leadership of Kim Jong Il.

The women in the DPRK fully enjoy an independent and creative life with equal socio-political rights with men as the mistress of the country.

They will as ever strengthen friendship and solidarity with all the progressive women aspiring after independence and carry on a vigorous struggle to build an independent world free from domination and subjugation in order to ensure global peace and the happiness of the women and their children.

Minju Joson says that immensely rosy is the future of the Korean women's movement under the leadership of Kim Jong Il. It calls on all the women to single-mindedly unite around him and struggle more dynamically to win a victory in the drive for building a thriving nation and thus demonstrate the revolutionary stamina of the Korean women in the era of Songun before the world.
