Wrong Behavior of Japanese Government Protested
Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- Korean residents in Japan including those concerned of the Korean schools strongly protested against the Japanese government's attempt to exclude the Korean schools in Japan from the "tuition-free program for senior high schools".

The headmaster of Ibaraki Korean Primary and Senior High School called a press conference at the Ibaraki prefectural government on Mar. 2 and made public a statement.

The statement expressed the resentment at the fact that the Japanese government openly showed the attitude of national discrimination when such cases as making violent actions and words against innocent Korean students in Japan have been reported one after another.

It is an unjust national discrimination and violation of human rights, contrary to the international convention on human rights and the spirit of the Japanese constitution to intentionally exclude the Korean schools from the "tuition-free program for senior high schools", it said, urging the Japanese authorities to refrain from violating the rights of the Korean students in Japan to learning.

The managing director of Aichi Korean Academy, the chairman of the Educational Society of Aichi Korean Senior High School and parents of students of Korean schools visited the Japanese Diet building on Mar. 4 to present a written request for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

In the request they mentioned the details of the establishment of Korean schools, the conditions of their operation, the contents of education at those schools, etc. and held that any discriminative action should never be taken in relation to the issue of rights to education.

On the same day representatives of the schools including the managing director of Kanagawa Korean Academy and the headmaster of Kanagawa Korean Senior High School went to the Kanagawa Prefectural General Branch of the Japanese Democratic Party to deliver a written request to the party.

The request noted that Kanagawa Korean Senior High School has been run so far according to the laws and regulations of the local administration just like other foreign schools.

If the Japanese government finally excludes only the Korean schools from the "program" despite the said fact, this will be evidently crackdown upon the Korean schools, it stressed.

The headmaster and students of Tokyo Korean Senior High School and their parents said in their written request to the New Komeito Party of Japan that it is unjust behavior, in view of the educational idea and results of the Korean schools with the history of over half a century, to exclude them from the "program".
