Japan Urged to Policy of Discrimination against Korean Schools
Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- The Committee for Independence and Reunification of the Solidarity for Progress of south Korea issued a statement on March 3 denouncing the Japanese authorities for their attempt to discriminate against the Korean schools in Japan.

The statement recalled that the Japanese government persistently resorted to the suppression and discrimination against the Koreans and their schools in Japan in the past, adding that not content with this, they are applying the anti-DPRK "sanctions" against the educational field, too, in a bid to institutionalize the national discrimination.

The Korean schools have observed Japan's law and regulations on schools both in the light of the contents of the education and their operation as legitimate national educational institutions, the statement noted, adding: Nevertheless the Japanese government seeks to institutionalize the discriminatory measures against the Korean schools, pursuant to the hostile policy toward the DPRK under the pretext of "abduction issue." This is an unreasonable national discrimination and human rights abuse running counter to the international convention on human rights and Japan's Constitution.

It urged the Japanese authorities to make an apology and reparation for Japan's past history of aggression and their discrimination against the Koreans in Japan and roll back at once the unreasonable policy of national discrimination.
