Struggle for National Independence Called for in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 5 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration in south Korea issued a statement on Monday in which it called on the people to turn out in the struggle to drive outside forces out of south Korea and achieve national independence.

The United States has considered south Korea as a lever for meeting its political, military and economic interests as evidenced by its pressure for fully opening markets to its beef fraught with danger of mad cow disease and dispatching troops to Afghanistan again, the statement said, adding that, yielding to this, the south Korean authorities are hell-bent on sycophancy and servility to the U.S.

What is more deplorable is that the present regime made no scruple of talking nonsense that it would not question about Japan's past history, calling Japan's king "emperor," the statement noted, and continued:

We will not remain a passive onlooker to this deplorable situation any longer. We will struggle to achieve national independence, strongly opposed to all sorts of oppression and coercive acts on the part of outside forces.

The statement called upon all the Koreans to judge by their concerted efforts the present regime hell-bent on sycophantic and humiliating acts.
