Kim Jong Il's Birthday Celebrated in Russia
Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- Korean book, photo and handicraft exhibitions were held in the cities of Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Volokolamsk, Nakhodka and Partizansk in Russia between Feb. 5 and 28 on the occasion of the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Displayed in the venues of the exhibitions were works of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, photos on their exploits, books and photos on the true picture of the DPRK and handicrafts representing the wisdom and skills of Koreans.

Speeches were made at the opening ceremonies of the exhibitions.

A deputy governor of the Maritime Territorial Administration referred to fresh leaps forward and innovations being brought about by the DPRK in economic construction despite so complicated international situation under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il, expressing belief that the Korean people would surely open the gate to a thriving nation in 2012.

The first deputy mayor of Volokolamsk City said the books, photos and handicrafts on display clearly indicate the successes made by the Korean people in socialist construction, expressing hope that cultural exchange with the DPRK would become more brisk in the future.

The mayors of Nakhodka, Partizansk, Pokino and Artyom praised Kim Jong Il for having victoriously led the drive of the army and people of the DPRK for building a thriving nation by making an endless journey for field guidance.

Messages of greetings to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the opening ceremonies of the exhibitions in Vladivostok and Nakhodka.
