LDP's Sycophancy toward US Ridiculed
Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- The Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (LDP) recently came out with "a bill on special measures" and the issue of revising the Constitution. Rodong Sinmun Monday observes in a signed commentary in this regard:

This is nothing but a ridiculous behavior of those obsessed with anachronistic sycophancy toward the U.S. and overseas expansion.

By nature the LDP is a group of factional elements made up of riff-raffs who became the target of derision and contempt at home and abroad for the lack of a proper political line, strategy and principle, the commentary says, and goes on:

It was thanks to the U.S. backing that the LDP could reign over the Japanese politics for many years in the post-war period. The LDP has, in fact, faithfully served the U.S. but it was not properly rewarded for it. Its bid to enable Japan to sit on the UNSC ended in smoke due to the U.S.

It is great irony that the LDP does not feel ashamed of the insult and disgrace it has suffered before the U.S. It is quite natural for the LDP to find itself in such poor position as it dances to the tune of others without independence.

The LDP would be well advised to understand the mindset of the Japanese today and its deplorable position. It is imprudent for the LDP to peddle the "bill on special measures" and "revision of the Constitution" as it finds itself in a political quagmire, hit hard at home and abroad.

The LDP is sadly mistaken if it calculates it can return to power and realize its wild militarist ambition only when it curries the U.S. favor.
