International Figure Skating Paektusan Prize Closes
Pyongyang, February 17 (KCNA) -- The 19th International Figure Skating Festival for Paektusan Prize, which opened on Monday on the occasion of the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il, closed with due ceremony at the Ice Rink here on Wednesday.

Present at the ceremony were Kwak Pom Gi and Pak Su Gil, vice-premiers of the Cabinet, Kim Yong Dae, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party, officials concerned, sportspersons and working people in the city.

Present there were a congratulatory group of the Koreans in Japan led by Ri Ki Sok, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan.

Prizes were awarded to the figure skaters who displayed high technique in the festival at the closing ceremony.

Pak Hak Son, chairman of the Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, declared the festival closed, expressing belief that figure skaters from different countries would meet with one another in the future, too, in the idea of independence, peace and friendship to contribute to glorifying the February holiday.

The ceremony was followed by demonstration performances by Korean and foreign figure skaters.
