Guidelines for Development of Socialist Agriculture
Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung created a method of guiding the masses, namely Chongsan-ri spirit and Chongsan-ri method, during his half-a-month stay in Chongsan-ri, then Kangso County, South Phyongan Province in February Juche 49 (1960).

In those days he, after meeting with peasants to learn about the actual conditions of the farm and their living, convened a ri Party meeting to give instructions as to the management of the country's rural economy.

In a historic speech titled "For Correct Management of Socialist Agriculture" he clearly expounded all the issues concerning the management of socialist agriculture including those of concentrating all efforts on farming, properly doing the work of planning and adhering to the socialist principle of distribution.

The meeting marked a historic occasion in bringing about a new turn in the management and development of socialist agriculture.

Thanks to the outstanding ideas and theories he elucidated at the meeting, rural communities of the country have been able to liquidate all handovers from old society and made a leap forward, registering signal achievements in the effort for the ultimate settlement of the rural question.

His profound ideas and exploits concerning socialist rural construction have been successfully carried forward by General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Visiting rural communities throughout the country, he has wisely guided them to strictly meet the requirements of the Juche method of farming and illuminated a shortcut to a radical development of agriculture in the new century.

His far-sighted plan and wise leadership have resulted in a radical turn in seed selection, potato and bean farming and double cropping and tremendous achievements in large-scale land rezoning and nature-driven waterway projects and comprehensive mechanization of agriculture, culminating in epoch-making changes in the socialist rural construction of the country.
