The work, published on Sept. 5, Juche 97 (2008), describes the six decade-long history of the DPRK as a great history of struggle and victory, creation and change in which the Korean people have defended the independence and honor of the country and built a rich and prosperous socialist power, weathering out the tempest of the revolution under the guidance of the great leader and party. And it clarifies the idea that even a small and backward country can turn into a developed and dignified power when it is guided by a great leader and party.

Also expounded in it are the tasks and ways for accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche under the banner of the Juche idea, the banner of Songun.
