Meeting Held to Mark Anniversary of 4.15 Innovation
Pyongyang, February 3 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held at the People's Palace of Culture on Wednesday to mark the 30th anniversary of the start of the movement of the April 15 technical innovation shock brigade.

Present there were Kim Yong Il and Choe Thae Bok and leading officials of ministries and national institutions, officials concerned and members of the shock brigade here.

A report was made by Ri Ja Bang, chairman of the State Science and Technology Commission who doubles as chairman of the C.C., the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea.

The reporter recalled that General Secretary Kim Jong Il initiated the above-said movement involving technicians and producers in January, Juche 69 (1980) true to the lofty intention of President
Kim Il Sung and referred to the shining successes registered in the mass drive to bring about technical innovations over the last three decades.

He went on to say:

There have been such scientific and technological achievements which pushed back the frontiers of science and technology as the perfection of the Juche iron production system, the construction of UHP electric arc furnaces of Korean style, the placing of the production of magnesia clinker on a Juche basis and the introduction of CNC technology to super-large machine tools, which are associated with the persevering efforts, enthusiasm and patriotic devotion of the officials and members of the shock brigade.

The reporter called upon them to make a tangible contribution to the development of the nation's economy and science and technology and glorify Songun Korea before the world by using brains and introducing new technologies and thus creditably perform their mission and duty as staunch revolutionaries and vanguard in carrying out the technical revolution.

He underscored the need to intensify the mass technical innovation movement for setting new standards and records to resolve in time the scientific and technological problems arising in speeding up the production and construction in the respective sectors and at the respective units.
