Kim Jong Il Greets Vietnam Communist Party Leader
Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il on Tuesday sent a message of greetings to Nong Duc Manh, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of its founding.

The message said:

I extend warm congratulations to you and, through you, to the C.C., the Communist Party of Vietnam, all its members and the people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the CPV.

The founding of the CPV was a historic event that brought about a radical turn in carving out the destiny of the Vietnamese people.

The CPV has organized and led the struggle of the Vietnamese people for national independence and the country's reunification and socialism to victory while overcoming all sorts of trials and hardships for a long period.

We are pleased with the fact that the Vietnamese people have made great successes in the struggle to build rich and powerful and prosperous Vietnam true to the behests of President Ho Chi Minh under the leadership of the CPV with you as general secretary.

Our meeting in 2007 marked an important occasion that put strong spurs to the development of the friendly relations between the two parties and the two countries.

Convinced that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties and peoples of the two countries will grow stronger, I sincerely wish your party greater success in the struggle for the victory of the socialist cause.
