S. Korean Authorities Urged to Switch Anti-North Policy
Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities should take a bold option to repeal such anti-reunification fascist laws as the "National Security Law" and make a switchover in their anachronistic "policy towards the north" if they truly wish to see the improved inter-Korean relations. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday observes this in a signed article.

It goes on:

There are in south Korea still legal and institutional mechanisms including the NSL which incriminate and bar the inter-Korean travels, contacts and discussions on reunification.

It is an unreasonable and anachronistic act for the south Korean authorities to incriminate and suppress the just activities of people for reunification, persistently keeping such leftovers of the old era of confrontation as the NSL. It is as clear as noonday that inter-Korean relations cannot be put on a normal track nor can national reconciliation and cooperation be successfully achieved so long as the fascist law which bans people's patriotic actions for reunification remains in force in south Korea.

The south Korean authorities' policy of anti-reunification confrontation is another obstacle to achieving national reconciliation and cooperation and improving the inter-Korean relations.

It is nonsensical for the south Korean authorities to talk about "reconciliation" and "improved relations" while keeping the above-mentioned legal and institutional mechanisms in force.

It is impossible to rid the inter-Korean relations of their catastrophe as long as hurdles are lying in the way of national reconciliation and cooperation. There will be a landmark phase favorable for improving the inter-Korean relations and achieving national reunification when the NSL is repealed to guarantee the freedom of the reunification movement in south Korea and replace the policy of anti-reunification confrontation with a policy of alliance with the north and reconciliation.
