Story of Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, February 1 (KCNA) -- On August 10, Juche 52 (1963) President Kim Il Sung called at a house in a village of forestry workers during his visit to Samjiyon.

In the kitchen he looked into a cupboard with bowls of boiled rice and dishes of pollack and bellflower root on its shelves and opened a lidded kimchi pot to find it empty.

He asked the housewife kindly why she didn't prepare kimchi.

She drooped her head, finding no word in reply.

An official answered instead of her that vegetables could not be cultivated well in the area.

The President went outside and fell into meditation for a while. He then happened to see a leaf-mustard blossom among potatoes growing in the garden.

He said the blossom showed that cabbage and radish would grow well there and that they should try to cultivate them.

The officials were deeply impressed by the President's deep concern for vegetable farming in alpine areas for their people's diet.
