Meeting Held in Hanoi
Pyongyang, February 1 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place in Hanoi on January 28 to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and Vietnam.

Present there were a vice-chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, the permanent vice-chairman of the Commission for External Affairs of the Communist Party of Vietnam, a vice foreign minister, the permanent vice-chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the chairman of the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Association and other personages of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Foreign Ministry, the Defence Ministry, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Club and media and others.

Present there on invitation were the DPRK ambassador to Vietnam and staff members of his embassy.

Speeches were made there.

Pham Tat Dong, chairman of the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Association, said that the Vietnamese people always remember the valuable support rendered by the party, state and fraternal people of the DPRK to them in their struggle for national independence and reunification of the country and feel grateful for it.

General Secretary Nong Duc Manh visited the DPRK and held talks with General Secretary
Kim Jong Il in October of 2007, he recalled, stressing that the leaders of the two countries clarified the two countries' stands of attaching importance to the development of the bilateral traditional relations of friendship and cooperation.

He hoped that the Korean people would register bigger successes in their efforts for building a great, prosperous and powerful nation and achieving national reunification under the leadership of
Kim Jong Il and the bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation would grow stronger.

The meeting was followed by a performance given by Vietnamese artistes.
