Economic Upswing Effected
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- The Korean service personnel and people are now full of determination to make tremendous achievements in the building of a great, prosperous and powerful nation this year that marks the 65th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Last year witnessed that the country's economy including heavy industry further grew through the campaigns for a great upsurge, providing a solid foundation for the building of a strong economy.

During the 150 and 100-day campaigns, a sharp increase of production was gained in main sectors of the national economy, all industrial sectors activated and monumental production bases representing the Songun era built in many parts of the country.

The "Huichon Speed," a new Chollima speed, strikingly demonstrated how powerful the moral strength of the Korean people was when they were turning out in efforts to bring about a great upsurge in response to the torch kindled by General Secretary Kim Jong Il at the Chollima Steel Complex (Kangson), home of the Chollima movement.

The great successes made last year show that the DPRK is on the track of upturn and the day of opening the gate to a thriving nation is getting nearer.

The Korean people are carrying forward the tradition of constant innovation, unceasing progress by accelerating the advance speed in response to the call made by the workers of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex this year as they did last year, inspired by the appeal of those of Kangson.

Workers of light industry are making every possible effort to make their products better so that consumers can feel homemade goods are the best, while peasants are devoting themselves to increasing the grain output.

Workers of metal, electric power, coal mining and machine-building industries and railway transport are also in high spirits to contribute to the improvement of the people's living standard with increased production and transport this year.

All the leading economic officials and workers are striving hard to overtake and outstrip advanced countries in all sectors.
