Scientists Make Breakthrough in Agricultural Front
Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Academy of Agricultural Science have turned out in efforts to carry through the tasks set forth in the joint New Year editorial, carried by leading newspapers of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, to sharply increase the grain production by applying the agricultural policy of the Workers' Party of Korea.

They have visited rural communities to find out a way of introducing new farming methods, while intensifying research into good strains of seed suitable to features of different areas.

Scientists of the Rice Research Institute are engaged in solving in practice scientific and technical issues arising in introducing rice of a new strain whose superiority has been confirmed in years and manuring and cultivating it.

Those of the Pedology Research Institute have concentrated on modeling productivity index by a scientific method of land valuation and confirming yield from each field to guarantee increased grain production.

Those of the Agrobiology Research Institute and research institutes of crops cultivation and agricultural mechanization have also done their bit in comprehensively introducing scientific farming methods suitable to the actual conditions of the country.

Efforts have also been directed to bringing science and technology close to production solving such hi-tech issues concerning the agricultural sector as the development of nano-lubricant, nano-photosynthetic catalyst and microbic fertilizer.
