Building of Confidence between DPRK and US Called for
Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- The general review of the process of the six-party talks proves that the issue of the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula can never be settled in such way as discussion by the parties concerned and the talks will bring nothing even if they may be resumed, says Minju Joson in a signed commentary Tuesday.

It is the principled stand of the DPRK that the source of the nuclear issue should be removed in order to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula as a whole, the commentary says, and goes on:

Conclusion of a peace treaty and the building of confidence between the DPRK and the U.S. would help establish institutional mechanism for peace on the peninsula to remove the danger of outbreak of war and create atmosphere favorable for the denuclearization and thus smoothly solve all the problems.

For the six-party talks to be resumed, it is essential to remove the factor of having torpedoed the talks by any means.

If the DPRK goes out for the six-party talks, being subject to sanctions, they would be reduced to the talks between "defendant" and "judge" rather than equal talks stipulated in the September 19 Joint Statement.

Unilateral demand for discussion of the issue of denuclearization at the above-said talks is a rude action of defying common sense, the commentary says, adding: The parties to the talks should discern the root cause of the issue and strive to create atmosphere for removing it.
