Present on invitation were figures of the Commission for Foreign Affairs of the Senate, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Institute for Asia of Italy. The DPRK ambassador and staff members of his embassy in Rome were on hand.

Stefania Craxi, vice-ministress of Foreign Affairs of Italy, said that it is the consistent stand of the Italian government to develop the friendly relations with the DPRK in various fields, reaffirming her willingness to make positive efforts to put the bilateral relations on a higher stage in the future.

Former Foreign Minister of Italy Lamberto Dini who is president of the commission and Guido Folloni, president of the institute, wished the Korean people greater successes in their efforts to build an economic power, achieve the independent reunification of the country and ensure peace, security and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
