Improved Inter-Korean Relations Called for
Pyongyang, January 18 (KCNA) -- The inter-Korean relations still remain deteriorated despite the positive efforts made by the DPRK to achieve national reconciliation and unity and the country's reunification last year, guided by the spirit of the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration. This is attributable to the south Korean authorities' persistent anti-reunification moves to escalate confrontation with compatriots.

Rodong Sinmun Monday observes this in a signed article.

It goes on:

The south Korean authorities pretend to be interested in improving the inter-Korean relations. But, they have, in actuality, kicked up the racket for confrontation with fellow countrymen more frantically than ever before in collusion with outside forces, displeased with any process for doing so.

Without any will to warm the ties between the north and the south it is impossible to find a solution to any problem, in the final analysis.

There were neither proper dialogue nor cooperation and exchange between the north and the south last year mainly because of the lack of the above-said will on the part of the south Korean authorities.

What is intolerable is that the south Korean ruling forces rejected the involvement of non-governmental bodies and figures and incriminated any contact and exchange of organizations of various circles with the north, making a monopoly of the inter-Korean relations.

If NGOs come out to settle the inter-Korean relations, it is possible to settle various complicated issues indirectly.

The abnormal inter-Korean relations should be settled without delay as they run counter to the need of the era.

To this end the south Korean authorities should not hesitate to opt for improving the inter-Korean relations from a proper approach and stand on them. Their prospect entirely depends on the attitude of the south Korean authorities.
