WPK Pursuing People's Living First Policy
Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- "Bring about a radical turn in the people's standard of living by accelerating the development of light industry and agriculture once again this year that marks the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea!" -- This is the main slogan for this year put forward by the WPK through the joint New Year editorial of the DPRK's leading newspapers.

The slogan reflects the people-oriented policy of the WPK, which regards it as the overriding principle in its activities to improve the people's living steadily.

The WPK, which is called by the people the maternal Party taking full responsibility for their destiny and future and taking care of them to the last, has set forth profound and clear-cut slogans representing the will and desire of the masses in each period and stage of the developing revolution in order to advance the revolution and construction without letup.

It is all for an independent life and happiness of the people that the WPK has firmly defended Korean-style socialism under the banner of Songun and set a great goal of building a great, prosperous and powerful nation.

Mirrored in the slogans "We serve the people!" and "All for improving the people's living standard!" is the unshakable political creed of the Party.

The WPK's policy of giving priority to the people's living has made such good results as modern light industry factories and stockbreeding bases built throughout the country, farms that have made a good job in grain production and fish farms based on the latest science and technology.

All the events that have taken place in the DPRK encourage the people with hope and confidence that they will surely live a happy life in a rich and powerful country.

The Korean people are now waging a vigorous campaign for improving the people's living standard by making the utmost use of all foundations and potentials of the country provided under the leadership of the Party in spite of difficulties.
