Story of Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- One day in the latter half of February Juche 60 (1971), President Kim Il Sung visited the Yahak Co-op Farm in Kanggye City, Jagang Province.

During a conversation with the farm officials he asked them about how many hectares of vegetable fields were under the water-jetting system.

One of them answered the acreage under the system was 34 hectares in all.

When the President asked again how many water pumps were installed, the official answered only two.

Saying that two pumps would not be enough to water all the 34 hectares, he requested the official to give the exact number of fully irrigated hectares.

Blushing at his words the official said water was reaching well to 16 hectares, but insufficiently to 18.

The President wrote down what he said on his handbook and asked how many water pumps were needed more to water all the piped fields.

Listening to the official's answer that they needed two more, he emphasized that a proper number of water pumps should be set up to see the water-jetting system paying off.

In fact some officials had thought that the pipe laying was all in the completion of the sprinkling irrigation system, without taking the capacity of water pump into account.

But the President noticed their miscalculation quickly and was kind enough to correct it.
