DPRK Important Day Marked
Pyongyang, January 2 (KCNA) -- Meetings were held in Denmark, Poland and Mongolia and seminars in Pakistan, Germany and Uganda from Dec. 18 to 24 on the occasions of the 18th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 92nd birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, anti-Japanese heroine.

Anders Kristensen, chairman of the Denmark-DPRK Friendship Association, in his address at the meeting said that Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the KPA was a dramatic event for the army and people of the DPRK struggling for the development of the cause of socialism.

D. Michka, general director of the Mongolian HUM Company Ltd., and J. Tsevelma, member of the Leading Council of the Mongolia-Korea Friendship Society, recalled that Dec. 24 is the significant day not only for the Korean people but the Mongolian people, referring to the fact that Kim Jong Suk made an immortal contribution to the liberation of Korea and the cause of building a new country.

Mohammad Aslam Nagi, secretary general of the Lahore Branch of the Pakistan-Korea Friendship Association, in his speech noted that Kim Jong Il has long pursued the unique Songun policy in all fields by developing in depth the idea and line of attaching importance to the arms and military affairs set forth by President Kim Il Sung.

Almas Jahra, secretary of the Pakistan Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, stressed that the Korean people have profound reverence for Kim Jong Suk because her life holds an extraordinary position in the modern history of Korea, adding that her august name will shine forever along with Kim Il Sung's Korea, Kim Jong Il's Korea.

The chairman of the Nider Sachsen State Committee of the Communist Party of Germany expounded that Kim Jong Il has turned the KPA into an invincible army and further developed the DPRK into the socialist power with his unique Songun policy, expressing support and solidarity with the Korean people in their struggle to fling open the gate to a great prosperous and powerful nation in 2012, the centenary of birth of Kim Il Sung.

Messages of greetings to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the meetings held in Denmark and Mongolia and at the seminar in Germany.
