The performance began with the playing of the national anthem. Put on the stage were female solo and chorus "Song of Loyalty", chorus "My Country that Witnesses Dramatic Changes," male solo and chorus "Song of Airman," orchestra "A Young Engine Driver" and other colorful numbers.

The performers sang with high pride of the path of great victory along which the country has dashed like the wind towards the eminence of a thriving nation, holding high the torch lit by Kim Jong Il in Kangson.

Kim Jong Il expressed great satisfaction over the successful concert given by the artistes as it is clear in its ideological and thematic import and vividly reflects the aspiration and desire of the Korean people. He highly appreciated the success made in the performance and extended thanks to them.

He noted that the enthusiasm of the army and people of the DPRK is exceptionally high as they greet the New Year with the great pride and honor of being victors, expressing expectation and conviction that the whole party and army and all the people would bring about a great innovation and leap forward in the worthwhile drive in the new year, too, and thus glorify 2010 as a year of great victory to be eternally recorded in the history of the country.

Among the audience were Kim Yong Nam, Kim Yong Il and other senior officials of the party, state and army, leading officials of the party, armed forces and power organs, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, officials in the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and media and servicepersons of the Korean People's Army.
