Over 120 More Scenic Spots Discovered in Mt. Myohyang
Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- Over 120 more scenic spots have been discovered in Mt. Myohyang, one of the famous mountains in Korea.

A team of experts from Kim Il Sung University, the Cultural Relics Conservation Guidance Bureau, the Mt. Myohyang Beauty Spots Management Office and Korean Cultural Preservation Agency, has recently made an on-the-spot survey of Sangwon, Manphok, Chonthae and Chilsong Ravines and Piro Peak of the mountain.

They have newly discovered waterfalls, ponds, fantastic rocks, peaks and so on.

Of them 21 large waterfalls, five ponds and 21 fantastic rocks were given names according to their features and shapes through discussions with archaeologists, linguists, historians and geographers.

Typical of the waterfalls are Idan, Samsim, Samhyongje, Samdan, Hapsu, Sipidan (12 stages), Kangson, Ryongsu and Aegi in Chonthae, Chilsong and Manphok Ravines.

The five ponds are Sangsin in Sangwon Ravine, Tanphung in Chonthae Ravine, Samchon on Piro Peak and Mangyong and Unsil in Chilsong Ravine.

Among the rocks are Janggun Rock, Puri Rock, Taegobuk Rock and Korae Rock in Sangwon Ravine, Hama Rock and Twin Rocks with a path in between in Manphok Ravine, Koemyon Rock in Chonthae Ravine, Som Rock in Chilsong Ravine and Songsae Rock, Sokgabonggobuk Rock, Posot Rock, Chonthaebongsaja Rock, Wonmanbong Three-storied-pagoda-shaped Rock, Wonmanbong Dolmen-shaped Rock, Toksuri Rock, Chomsongdae Rock and Pirobong Diving-tower-shaped Rock in Piro Peak.

Before the survey, the number of the registered scenic spots in the mountain had totaled over 80.
