Meeting for Start of Anti-Japanese Armed Struggle
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Seventy-eight years has passed since the winter Mingyuegou meeting was held, bringing about the beginning of the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

In those days the Japanese imperialists were intensifying an all-out reactionary offensive against the Korean people for "secure rear" along with the start of continental aggression.

The prevailing situation raised an urgent need to fight the counterrevolutionary armed force with revolutionary one.

President Kim Il Sung convened a meeting of cadres of the Party and the Young Communist League in Mingyuegou, Yanji County in December Juche 20 (1931) to arouse the Korean revolutionaries and people to an anti-Japanese armed struggle.

He made a historic speech "On Organizing and Waging Armed Struggle against Japanese Imperialism" at the meeting.

In the speech he, with an analysis of the internal and external situation created owing to the Manchurian occupation by the Japanese imperialists and a historical lesson drawn from the anti-Japanese national liberation movement of the Korean people, advanced a strategic policy of launching an armed struggle mainly on the basis of guerrilla war.

He said that for this purpose, it was necessary for the Korean people, first of all, to organize an anti-Japanese people's guerrilla army, their own armed force capable of defeating the counterrevolutionary force of the enemy. He then clarified its character and mission as well as principles and ways of organizing and strengthening it.

He underlined the necessity of guerrilla bases and gave perfect answers to questions arising in their establishment, saying that broad segments of people should be educated and united and the revolutionary force trained and expanded in a militant way through practice to provide a mass foundation of the armed struggle.

He also referred to an issue of forming an anti-Japanese united front of the Korean and Chinese people.

He stressed that the work of the Party and Young Communist League organizations should be strengthened in order to successfully carry out the tasks arising in waging an anti-Japanese armed struggle.

After the meeting the anti-Japanese national liberation struggle of Korea entered a new, higher level, namely the stage of an armed struggle.
