DPRK Important Day Marked
Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- Lectures, book and photo exhibitions and film shows were held by the Secretariat of the Pan-African Movement and in Brazil, Bangladesh, Mongolia and Iran from Dec. 15 to 17 on the occasions of the 18th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 92nd birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, anti-Japanese heroine.

Displayed in the venues of the functions were works of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, photos on their exploits and books and photos introducing the true picture of Songun Korea.

Speeches were made at the functions.

Jose Reinaldo Carvalho, international secretary of the Central Committee of the Brazilian Communist Party, referred to the fact that the Korean people have won only victories undeterred by the vicious moves of the U.S. and its followers to stifle the DPRK. This is entirely thanks to the single-minded unity of all the people in the DPRK around their leader, something more powerful than nuclear weapons, he added.

N. Sarantuya, member of the Leadership Council of the Mongolian Mt. Paektu Association for Independent Development, said that the world in the 1990s followed the DPRK, assuming that socialism there would also collapse, but thanks to the Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il the Korean people defended socialism and achieved marvelous successes in all fields.

The vice-chairman of the International Taekwon-Do Association of Iran noted that Kim Jong Suk protected Kim Il Sung by displaying matchless self-sacrificing spirit in the period of the anti-Japanese struggle and remained true to his cause of nation-building till the last moments of her life.

Though she passed away, the exploits performed by her for the Korean revolution and the cause of the women's emancipation will last forever, he stressed.

The participants of the film shows watched Korean films "Fireworks for a Thriving Nation" and "Arms of Korea".
