Story of Kim Jong Il
Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to a machine-tool factory one day in January Juche 96 (2007).

Looking around the factory, he suddenly mentioned a machine-building plant's name and asked an official of the factory about the former's technical modernization of the production processes in contradistinction to the latter.

The official answered him that his factory had gone in advance of the plant. The leader told him that it might be good for the two to emulate with each other, saying that needed in any work was a sense of rivalry with which one could develop.

Looking at a product, he said through it alone, one could see how clever and wise the Koreans were and that the Korean people should not intend to follow other countries in all sectors including science and technology, but go ahead of them.

After making the rounds of the factory for hours, he noted the factory had remarkably updated itself in a technical way and that, when meeting officials of other machine-tool factories, he would tell them of its higher level of technical modernization than theirs, in order to inspire their officials and workers to redoubled efforts.

Listening to him, the attendants renewed their determination to make strenuous efforts with patriotic zeal for the building of a great, prosperous and powerful nation.
