Probe into Mass Killings of Civilians Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- Bereaved families of civilians killed in the past held a "joint memorial service" in Seoul on Dec. 14 at which they demanded a thorough probe into the truth behind the mass killings of civilians.

The participants referred to the fact that the Committee for Settling the Past History for Truth and Reconciliation is expected to wind up its work before long though the truth about the mass killings of civilians by U.S. troops, troops of the puppet army and policemen before and after the war has not yet been completely probed.

Then, the probe into the mass killings of civilians will come to an end and there will be no organization to which the bereaved families can appeal, they deplored, stressing the need to continue receiving reports about mass killings and conducting the probe into them.

They held that the authorities should not dissolve the above-said committee but opt for instituting a law or revising the existing one to ensure that its term is extended.

They, at the same time, urged the authorities to institute a special law on unearthing all the places presumed to be burial grounds, provide facilities for burying the unearthed remains and reinstate the victims.
