10,000-ton Press Put on CNC Basis
Pyongyang, December 17 (KCNA) -- The Chollima Steel Complex in the DPRK has put its 10,000-ton press on a Juche-oriented CNC basis.

This press, 25 meters high and 3,000 tons in weight, is a product of self-reliance, which was manufactured by workers of Ryongsong with their own efforts and technology in the 1980s.

The introduction of CNC system has made it possible for the press to increase its production capacity ten times.

It helps automatically control at will type, pressure, precision, forging way and all other things needed according to state of materials and produce any forgings weighing hundreds tons at one operation.

This system increases the quantity of forgings by press ten times while ensuring their precision quadruple higher than before so that nearly finished products can be supplied to help machine-building bases radically decrease their processing hours and enhance their quality.

60 percent of power and water needed to produce pressure are saved to lower the norm of materials consumption per unit of output less than half.

This up-to-date press is now freely producing such heavy and large-size forgings as turbine axis of generator and rollers needed at socialist construction sites including the Huichon Power Station, the Kumyagang Power Station and the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex.
