Peruvian Honorary Citizenship Awarded to Kim Jong Il
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il was awarded the title of honorary citizen by the Changcay Municipality, Huaral District, Lima Province of Peru.

A ceremony of conveying the certificate and medal of honorary citizenship was held at the district office on Dec. 7.

A resolution on registering Kim Jong Il as an honorary citizen was read out there.

It said:

In token of our respect for His Excellency Kim Jong Il, the supreme leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, who has made distinguished contribution to promoting and strengthening the cultural ties between the peoples of Peru and the DPRK, we, on behalf of the Office of Changcay Municipality, decide to highly recognize HE Kim Jong Il, the great leader of the Korean people and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army who is consolidating the fraternal bonds between the two peoples.

The certificate and medal were handed over to the DPRK ambassador to Peru.

Written in the certificate bearing the national emblem of Peru and the emblem of the office of Changcay Municipality are letters reading: The Office of Changcay Municipality awards the honorary citizenship of the municipality to HE Kim Jong Il, the great leader of the Korean people, on the occasion of the 447th anniversary of the municipality which has historically been called "Villa de Ardedo" of Spain.

Inscribed in the medal are letters reading "Kim Jong Il, the great leader of the Korean people" and "The Office of Changcay Municipality, development for social justice, Governor of municipality Juan Alberto Alvarez Andrade."
