Dismantlement of Barrier of Division Urged
Pyongyang, December 14 (KCNA) -- The Punjab Provincial Committee of the National Workers' Party, the Organization for Afro-Asian People's Solidarity, the Peasants Committee and the Trade Union Federation of Pakistan, the Lahor Branch of the Pakistan-Korea Friendship Association and the Pakistan Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification issued a joint statement on Dec. 8 in demand of the dismantlement of the concrete wall.

The south Korean authorities are persistently seeking the national division and confrontation while keeping 240 odd km-long concrete wall, built in the area south of the Military Demarcation Line in the Korean Peninsula under the patronage of the foreign forces, the statement pointed out, and said:

There are many large and small walls and military structures on the earth, but no such barrier can be found as the above-said concrete wall which was built so tremendously in the contiguous territory of one country that cannot stand comparison with state boundaries.

The concrete wall, a physical barrier cutting off the vein of the Korean nation and bisecting its territory, is a symbol of the national division and the north-south confrontation.

We extend firm solidarity to the Korean people who love peace and work hard to achieve the reunification of the country in the spirit of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, the milestone of Korea's reunification.

We demand that all the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces withdraw from south Korea at once, the Korean Armistice Agreement be replaced with a peace agreement and the south Korean authorities pull down the concrete wall, a symbol of division, at an early date.
