DPRK Significant Day Observed
Pyongyang, December 14 (KCNA) -- Meetings, photo exhibitions and film shows were held in Mongolia and South Africa and a book, photo and handicraft exhibition opened in Peru with due ceremony on Dec. 7 to mark the 18th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 92nd birth anniversary of
Kim Jong Suk, anti-Japanese heroine.

Displayed in the venues of the functions were works of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, photos on their immortal feats and the true picture of Songun Korea and handicrafts associated with the Korean people's wisdom and talents.

Speeches were made at the events and the Korean film "Fireworks for a Thriving Nation" was appreciated.

E. Maksim, executive chairperson of the Mongolian Mt. Paektu Association for Independent Development, said it is of weighty significance that the Korean people held Kim Jong Il in high esteem as supreme commander of the Korean People's Army in 1991. He has trained the KPA to be an invincible army and led the work to make shining achievements in socialist construction over the past 18 years, the speaker added.

A teacher of the Literary College of Mongolia introduced the brilliant life of Kim Jong Suk, stressing that present Korea would have been unthinkable without her.

Bonakele Majuba, secretary of the Mfumalanga Provincial Committee of the South African Communist Party, said that on the said significant occasions they warmly congratulate the Workers' Party of Korea and the Korean people working world-startling miracles and innovations in the drive to build a great prosperous and powerful nation.

It is thanks to the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il that the fireworks for a thriving nation and fantastic evening of Pyongyang could be displayed in the DPRK, the secretary said, praising him as the peerlessly great man and the master of leadership art.

The governor of Changcay Municipality, Huaral District, Lima Province of Peru, said they hope that Korea would be reunified as early as possible and demonstrate its might as a thriving nation.

A message of greetings to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the event held in South Africa.
