Fatherland Liberation War Historic Site
Pyongyang, December 8 (KCNA) -- There is a Historic Site Associated with the Fatherland Liberation War in the suburbs of Pyongyang.

President Kim Il Sung had the Supreme Command stationed at the site from January Juche 40 (1951) to the last period of the Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953) and led the war to victory by wisely guiding the military, political, economic, cultural and all other affairs of the country.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il stayed at the site from late June to mid-August 1952. During the days, he learnt from the President's Juche-oriented military tactics and art of command, cultivating a noble spirit of loving the country, the nation and the people.

Grasping the profound truth that the embrace of the motherland is precisely that of the President, he also created the famous song "The Embrace of My Motherland", the first paean to the motherland, consistent with the revolutionary outlook on the leader.

Placed in the center of the site is the headquarters of the Supreme Command furnished with an office room, library, etc.

The President told his son a story about two pistols handed over by Kim Hyong Jik and gave him one of them at the headquarters on July 10, 1952.

That day was the 58th birth anniversary of Kim Hyong Jik, the father of the President.

Implicated in the pistol were the earnest request the President made to his son for the accomplishment of the Korean people's just cause with arms and Kim Jong Il's firm pledge to further glorify the country with the victory of the Songun-based revolution.

Preserved to the original state at the site are more than 70 places. Among them are an operations room where the President formulated many operation and battle plans to smash frantic moves of the U.S. imperialists including their "summer and autumn offensives" and "new offensive", subterranean passages, the place where he talked with heroes of the Republic and model soldiers on June 29, 1951, the place where he had a picture taken after receiving the title of the DPRK's marshal on February 7, 1953 and a spring.

On display at the site are gifts sent to him by local and foreign people, an unexploded heavy bomb and marks of bullets dropped and fired from US aircraft and 1,260-odd pieces of historic relics.

The Fatherland Liberation War Museum and a monument to the revolutionary exploits of the President standing at the site give a glimpse into the history of Korea advancing triumphantly under the banner of Songun.

Hundreds of thousands of servicemen and people of Korea, overseas Koreans and foreigners visit the historic site, exhibitive of the Songun-based leadership of commanders of Mt. Paektu, every year.
