Koreans Called upon to Value and Love Their Own Things
Pyongyang, December 5 (KCNA) -- Every country and nation should value and love their own things if they are to live and develop independently, says Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a signed article.

It goes on:

One should not look up to others and envy them, bereft of dignity and self-respect, but stand on one's own feet, valuing one's own things and preserving them well. Only then one can feel the worth of a true life and pride as a human being and carve out one's destiny independently and creatively.

Something foreign cannot always agree with the taste and need of Koreans. Accordingly, if they introduce them recklessly, this will result in marring the national character peculiar to the Koreans and their pure soul as a homogeneous nation.

Everything including the land developed and defended by our ancestors and brilliant culture and national tradition is dear to us Koreans and their treasures. They should preserve and glorify all these precious treasures and tradition dear to the nation and hand them down to posterity and make efforts to create everything better for them to be bequeathed to it.

A reunified country and future of a prosperous and powerful nation which will appear with the country becoming one are the greatest and most important things to be handed down by the Koreans to posterity.

Reunified Korea will stand as the strongest country in the world in name and reality and the Korean nation demonstrate its dignity as the great Kim Il Sung's nation shedding its rays thanks to the august name of the sun.

The June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, a programme for implementing it, serve as a blueprint for bringing earlier a bright future of the reunified country by the concerted efforts of the Koreans, believing in their own strength without relying on others, and "By our nation itself" is the idea that heightens this spirit.
