Affection for Rickshaw Puller
Pyongyang, December 2 (KCNA) -- It happened in the early summer of Juche 35 (1946) that the anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk left on foot for a hospital to show the relapsing wound she had got during the guerrilla warfare, refusing doctor's visit and car.

Seeing her walking with difficulty not long after, an official called a rickshaw and suggested her to take it.

She cast compassionate eyes to the rickshaw puller who was bent with years, and admonished the official to the following effect: We had not fought, grubbing up the roots of plants to satisfy our starving hunger and sleeping on snow, for haughtily taking a rickshaw after the liberation of the country. We must struggle not to carry someone on rickshaw but to eradicate such inequality.

Looking with heartache at the rickshaw puller who had been subjected to all sorts of insults in the bygone days, she persuaded him to live a worthwhile life, working at a factory for the building of a new country instead of pulling a rickshaw.

Her warm affection moved to tears the old man who had regarded it as his destiny to draw a rickshaw for the half of his life.

After then the rickshaw pullers disappeared in the streets of the city and worked at factories and construction sites as masters of new Korea.
