DPRK Make Contribution to Ensuring World Food Security
Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- The DPRK government will further boost the friendly and cooperative relations with the FAO and its member countries in the future, too, in the idea of its foreign policy-- independence, peace and friendship-- and make a positive contribution to the worldwide efforts to ensure the world food security.

The head of a DPRK delegation said this, when addressing the 36th General Assembly of the FAO on November 20.

Humankind's desire to achieve prosperity in a peaceful and equal world is still facing serious challenges, he said, and went on:

The FAO should channel primary efforts into creating an international environment for achieving sustainable agricultural development to weather the food crisis and financial and economic crisis, first of all.

The organization should also pay a due attention to helping its member countries work out agricultural strategies and policies suited to their actual conditions and create a socio-economic environment for bolstering the agricultural productive forces.

The organization should, at the same time, create an atmosphere of ensuring that agricultural products of developing countries find their ways to international markets, unhindered, and take a positive step to ensure that the developed countries unconditionally and sincerely implement the internationally proclaimed aid commitments.

The DPRK government has directed primary efforts to the priority domains of the national economy in the economic construction and, at the same time, focused all efforts on attaining the grain production goal to solve the food shortage by its own efforts, he concluded.
