Bolstering Military Capability for Self-Defence Called for
Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- A country with strong defence capability can protect its authority and dignity and achieve national prosperity. Rodong Sinmun says this in a signed article.

It goes on:

If a country fails to bolster its military capability for self-defence, it is bound to come under the imperialists' political and economic pressure and become their slaves no matter what affluent material life its people may lead.

Aggression and plunder are the invariable nature of the imperialists. They are now working hard to establish a world order whereby they can lord it over the world, perpetrating high-handed and arbitrary practices in the international arena.

Citing facts to prove that from a historical point of view the imperialists look down upon those countries with weak military power, force them to meet their unilateral and brigandish demands and consider them as targets of their armed intervention and aggression, the article goes on:

If a country, though small, increases defence capability, attaching importance to military affairs, the imperialists dare not attack it. This is clearly evidenced by the reality of the DPRK.

The war deterrent of the DPRK serves as a powerful treasured sword for protecting the Korean nation from outside forces' aggression and the peace and security of the Korean Peninsula.

The confrontation with the imperialist aggressor forces is, in essence, a showdown of strength and force alone can work on the imperialists.

A country without strong military power can neither defeat imperialism nor defend itself and the nation and the people's security. This is the hard reality today.
