WPK's Founding Anniversary Celebrated in Peru
Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- A meeting for celebrating the 64th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea was held in Lima on October 28 under the co-sponsorship of the American regional preparatory committee and the Peruvian preparatory committee for commemorating the centenary of birth of President Kim Il Sung.

Congratulatory letters to the Peruvian Communist Party, the Communist Party of Peru "Red Motherland", the New Left Movement of Peru and the Popular Union of Women of Peru were read out at the meeting.

Genaro Ledesma Izquieta, chairman of the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru, Yuri Castro Romero, secretary general of the Peruvian-Korean Institute of Culture and Friendship, and other personages spoke at the meeting.

The speakers praised the WPK as the most powerful party, a party which took deep roots among the popular masses and a true mother party that considers it as its noble mission to improve the standard of people's living.

They said that socialist Korea has steadily made a long drive as the WPK put forward the army as a main force of the revolution true to the Songun politics of General Secretary Kim Jong Il and defended the country and pushed forward socialist construction in reliance upon it.

Noting that the WPK called on the officials to serve the people, they stressed that this party is an example to be followed by the political parties of all countries.

A program for organizing an international art and literary prize contest to commemorate the centenary of birth of

President Kim Il Sung and an appeal were made public at the meeting.

The participants of the meeting watched the Korean film "Korean People's Army, Steel Strong-Ranks".
