Pyongyang Taedongmun Kindergarten Produces Many Music Prodigies
Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- There are many kindergartens producing music prodigies in the DPRK.

Famous among them is the Pyongyang Taedongmun Kindergarten.

The kindergarten has covered a proud road of development as a reliable base for early musical education in the country under the warm care of the peerlessly great men.

With a penetration into the importance of the kindergarten education in the work for raising talented artistes, General Secretary Kim Jong Il has directed deep attention to the work from long ago.

In the closing years of the 1970s he saw to it that early musical classes for teaching the fundamentals for playing violin and kayagum were set up in the kindergartens and sufficient material conditions for the education including various kinds of musical instruments and acoustic devices were supplied to them.

Having over 10 rooms for training violin, kayagum and sight reading, the kindergarten looks like a small "conservatory".

The kindergarten properly applies teaching methods in accordance with the law of development of intellectual faculties and practical ability of kindergarteners while selecting those with instinct for music in a systematic way, thus helping children lay a solid musical foundation.

Over last three decades not a small number of graduates of the kindergarten were awarded the February 16 Art Prize. In particular, Mun Kyong Jin placed first in an international violin concours.

Now they are active in the State Symphony Orchestra, Mansudae Art Troupe and other renowned art troupes of the country.
