Korean People's Just Cause Supported by WPC
Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- A meeting of the Executive Committee of the World Peace Council was held in Syria from Oct. 23 to 25 with delegates of 33 countries of Asia, Europe and Americas in attendance. It expressed full support for the just cause of the Korean people.

A special resolution on solidarity with the DPRK adopted at the meeting noted that it is one of the key issues arising in ensuring peace and stability in Asia and the rest of the world at present to get the divided Korean Peninsula reunified and bring peace and stability to it.

It urged the U.S. to roll back its hostile policy towards the DPRK, immediately respond to the DPRK-U.S. talks for the normalization of the relations with the DPRK, replace the Korean Armistice Agreement with a peace accord, withdraw its forces from south Korea and halt the war exercises for aggression.

Holding that Korea should be reunified independently and peacefully on the basis of the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration recognized and supported by the UN General Assembly, the resolution called on the peace-loving people and organizations in the world to conduct the widespread international activities to support the just cause of the Korean people in 2010 which will mark the lapse of 65 years since the division of Korea by foreign forces and the passage of 60 years since the outbreak of the Korean war and the 10th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration.

Meanwhile, a final communique released at the meeting voiced opposition to the imperialists' enforcement of the double-dealing policy in dealing with the nuclear issue and supported the Korean people in their efforts to achieve the reunification of the country peacefully on the basis of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.
