Ancient Wooden-box Tomb Unearthed
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- Researchers of the Institute of Archaeology under the Academy of Social Sciences have recently unearthed a wooden-box tomb dating back to Ancient Korea in Husan-ri, Ryonggang County of South Phyongan Province.

The tomb was found under the ground 1.5 meter deep. It has a hollow of certain size in which there is the wooden box with the coffin enshrined in it.

Most of inner fixtures in the tomb fretted away with passage of centuries, but found there were scores of relics of more than 20 kinds that show the then social class relationship and standard of development of productive force.

Among the relics are weaponry including narrow brass dagger, iron dagger, iron spear and iron axe, means of labor, receptacles, things attached to cart and trinkets, etc.

Through survey into the tomb scale and relics, the researchers ascertained that the tomb dates back to the last period of Ancient Korea.

The relics go to prove that the technique of smelting bronze and casting iron and processing them at that time was of fair level.
