DPRK will Consolidate Advantageous System for Ensuring Children Rights
Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) -- The DPRK will consolidate and develop the advantageous system for ensuring the children rights, considering the significant words of General Secretary Kim Jong Il that one should live not for today but for tomorrow as a cornerstone and firm guidelines for pursuing the policy for children. A delegate of the DPRK declared this in a speech made at the meeting of the Third Committee of the 64th session of the UN General Assembly on Oct. 16 when Item 65 "The Children Rights" was discussed.

He said: The Convention on Children Rights was adopted at the UN General Assembly 20 years ago, but practices of seriously violating the rights of children have not yet been eradicated on the earth.

The DPRK has consistently pursued the policy of attaching importance to the children, the future, under the slogan "Best things for the children!" regarding them as "kings" of the country from the very day of its founding.

The DPRK government and people have carried out the work to guarantee the children rights and promote their welfare under the national and social care despite the persistent moves of the United States and its followers to stifle it.

The DPRK government has provided a firmer legal guarantee for promoting the rights and welfare of the children and, at the same time, paid primary attention to the work for creating material and social conditions for substantially ensuring them, thereby giving steady play to the vitality of the universal system of free medical care and the compulsory free education system.
