The meeting will review the successes and experience gained in the course of waging a movement to follow the examples set by the persons of merits in the era of Songun and discuss the issue of developing this movement in depth in an effort to expand the ranks of persons of distinguished services and encourage the officials and other party members and working people to make a positive contribution to flinging open the gate to a thriving nation by registering great results.

It was attended by Kim Yong Nam and other senior party and state officials, leading officials of working people's organizations, officials in the field of the party ideological work and persons of merits in the era of Songun from across the country.

A congratulatory message of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea to the participants of the meeting was read out at the meeting.

The message referred to the fact that the movement to follow the examples set by the persons of merits in the era of Songun initiated and led by President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il has displayed great influence and vitality in the ideological and moral life of the Korean people and socialist construction.

The C.C., the WPK, notes with high appreciation that the participants in the meeting and the persons of merits in the era of Songun from across the country have displayed matchless devotion and the self-sacrificing spirit in the drive for the prosperity of the socialist country, moving all the people, and performed labor feats and brought about innovations stirring up the era, taking the lead in upholding the WPK's idea and leadership, the message said.

It expressed belief that the said participants and persons of merits and all other officials, party members and working people would perform heroic feats and demonstrate the revolutionary stamina of Songun Korea and invincible national power to the whole world in the all-out charge for opening the gate to a great prosperous and powerful nation, single-mindedly united around Kim Jong Il.

Choe Thae Bok, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK, in his report at the meeting said that it is the honor and pride for the party and people that a large number of persons of merits in the era have emerged as models of true human beings of Juche type by leaving clear traces in their lives on the road of Songun by rendering worthy services and registering great results with intense loyalty to the party and the leader and patriotic enthusiasm and thus touched people and aroused them to a fruitful struggle and exploits.

The reporter called upon all the people to learn from the spirit of devotedly defending the leader, indomitable mental power displayed by the persons of merits in the era of Songun and thus uphold Kim Jong Il with faith and conscience, unite closer around the headquarters of the revolution in thinking and purpose and with the sense of moral obligation and become genuine Songun revolutionary comrades who share idea, will and destiny with him.
