Wreaths Laid before Grave of Ri Po Ik
Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- Wreaths were placed before the grave of ardent patriot Ri Po Ik in Mangyongdae Sunday on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of her death.

Seen standing before the grave was a wreath sent by Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army.

Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Kim Yong Nam, O Kuk Ryol, Choe Yong Rim and others and officials of party, armed forces and power organs, working people's organizations and ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the KPA and working people in Pyongyang.

Wreaths were placed before her grave in the name of the WPK Central Committee, ministries and national institutions, public organizations, scientific and educational institutions, military universities and party and power organs, industrial establishments and farms in Pyongyang.

The participants observed a moment's silence in the memory of the noble life of Ri Po Ik who, guided by the anti-Japanese patriotic idea in the period of the nation's sufferings, let members of her family embark upon the road of a revolutionary struggle to glorify the tradition of the Mangyongdae family and dedicated herself to the country and people.
