Rodong Sinmun on International Day of Old Persons
Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- Today the DPRK is purposefully taking necessary measures for the old persons and putting them into practice.

Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in a signed article dedicated to International Day of Old Persons.

It goes on:

The reality, in which the old population is on a steady increase, demands more social and state care and increased investment for the protection of health of old persons.

In capitalist countries where the almighty dollar principle dominates, many old persons are forsaken by their families and society due to the corrupt lifestyle and immoral practices influenced by misanthropy. They are denied medical treatment even though they suffer from illness and some of them are even taking their own lives, finding it hard to make a living.

The Central Committee of the Federation for the Care of the Elderly of Korea is active in the DPRK. The organization conducts in a unified way the work to protect old persons, considering it as an important mission of the state. It is striving to strengthen relationship and cooperation with relevant international organizations as regards the issues on the population aging and the care for the elderly.
