Chinese Exhibition of Oil Paintings Opens
Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- A Chinese exhibition of oil paintings was opened with due ceremony at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium on Tuesday to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the People's Republic of China.

On display there are more than 60 oil paintings created by famous Chinese artists.

Han Chol, vice-minister of Culture, in his opening address said that the exhibition would provide Koreans with an opportunity to deepen the friendly feelings towards the Chinese people and know better about the successes achieved in the development of Chinese art.

He stressed the need to actively develop the exchange between the two countries in culture and art to contribute to glorifying the history and tradition of the DPRK-China friendship in the future, too.

Then, Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Liu Xiaoming and the head of the delegation of Chinese painters in their speeches said that cultural exchange is playing a big role in promoting the mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries and facilitating the sustained development of the traditional Sino-DPRK friendship.

Noting that the cultural exchange between the two countries has gained in width and depth over the last six decades since the opening of the bilateral diplomatic relations, they stressed that the current exhibition would help towards boosting the friendly and cooperative relations between China and the DPRK.

At the end of the opening ceremony, the participants looked round paintings on display.
